Fuocoallegro 2019 Casa Setaro wins "Best in Show" for “Decanter…

Casa Setaro’s Fuocoallegro Piedirosso 2019 wins “Best in Show”, awarded at the “Decanter World Wine Awards” 2021 with others six Italian wines. A numerically exceptional edition, with 18,094 wines tasted from 56 different countries, by 170 experts, including 44 Masters of Wine and 11 Master Sommeliers, for two consecutive weeks of tasting. In the end, the “Best in Show” were 50, 179 Platinum, 635 Gold, 5.607 Silver and 8,32 Bronze.

In the geographical distribution of awards, Europe collected 41 “Best in Show”, 133 Platinum Medals and 455 Gold Medals. By narrowing the analysis to single countries, at the top, according to the tradition of what is one of the most important British wine contests, there is France, with 15 “Best in Show”.

Fuocoallegro 2019 Piedirosso Casa Setaro earns 97/100 points in the second year of life, but Aryete 2019 Caprettone 91/100 also on the podium.

It is the first time that a Vesuvian company has received this award, a double source of pride for the Setaro family which has been committed for generations to enhancing Vesuvius viticulture and the potential of Vesuvius.

It is no coincidence that this wine label that graphically shows a robin, a bird symbol of resistance and rebirth, but above all a good omen, wins the most important prizes in the world wine sector.

“We are really excited about this result – comments the producer Massimo Setaro -. For Italy only 3 wines, and ours is the fourth, received the “Best in show”, for the South we and a Calabrian wine. The commitment and dedication of our cellar and all our collaborators has therefore been well rewarded. But it is not a goal, it is a confirmation of the way to go. This is an extremely important award, the Decanter World Wine Awards really help producers to raise their profile internationally and, after the severe chaos created by the pandemic, we hope it will change the situation“.

A result that also tells of a different Campania, which also knows how to emerge with red wines and not only with white berried ones. The Decanter magazine is among the most authoritative in the world of wine, and has also been organizing the Decanter World Wine Awards for 17 years to determine which are the best wines of the year.
